ABOUT YOUR TRAINER
Jack McCauley has been a trainer at BFF Pet Services since retiring from law enforcement in 2013. Jack is an avid competitor in Disc Dog Sports and has helped train teams to participate in events throughout the world while creating and developing countless Freestyle Routines. Jack teaches all levels of Obedience from Basic to Advanced. His specialities include Confidence Building for Shy Dogs and Reactive Dogs. Jack also trains and teaches Man Tracking, Blood Tracking, Antler Shed Hunt, Retriever Games, and Agility. Jack is a full time trainer who also creates and manages all of our online courses.
WHAT IS BASIC OBEDIENCE?
This course is designed for those dog owners who are starting their training journey with their dogs. The course covers basic good manners intended to increase the dog's focus while learning to disregard distractions. The course content is yours as long as you like. You can watch the videos and follow the course at your own pace. This course is NOT interactive. A separate, interactive course, is offered periodically throughout the year as an active online course with a private group where you can submit video and receive additional coaching. COMMUNICATION
Learning how to properly communicate with your dog is essential for success. We want you to understand the how and why behind the most proven dog training methods. Dog training is and art and a science.
BASIC COMMANDS
Basic level dog training commands are universal. Dog owners can typically travel with their commands from one dog training location to another and find similar styles and commands. But there are secrets to teaching those commands in a way that lasts and a way that your dog wants to volunteer behaviors. Training should be fun for you and your dog.
DISTRACTIONS
Obedience commands have very little value away from your home unless you are able to work through distractions. Teaching impulse control really seals the deal and helps you understand how to proof behaviors, even in a public setting.
